This year, Thursday, May 10, 2018, was the McCracken County High School’s band final concert of the year. This took place in the C-Plant Performing Arts Center at 7:00 pm.

The concert started off with Percussion Ensemble, conducted by Stephanie Buchanan. This consisted of the songs “Kids”, which was composed by management, “Daft Punk Melody”, and a special guest presentation by Mr. Reece King from AMRO (better known at our school for repairing instruments).

The Symphonic Band followed, performing “Into the clouds” (composed by Richard Saucedo and conducted by John Lovell), “Earthsong” (composed by Frank Ticheli and conducted by Kelley Ray), and “American Riversongs” (composed by Pierre La Plante and conducted by John Lovell).

The Wind Ensemble performed “Dusk” which is composed by Steven Bryant, “Fantasia” composed by Claude T. Smith, and “Symphony #2- Mvt. 3 Apollo Unleashed” composed by Frank Ticheli. This band was conducted by John Lovell.

To conclude the concert “MCHS Mega-Band”, consisting of Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, John Lovell conducted “Selections from the Greatest Showman” arrangement by Paul Murtha. This piece contained multiple solos, performed by Lindsey Kovach, Augene Lee, Catherine McGee, and Elizabeth Corry. Prior to the piece, John Lovell recognized all of the seniors for their four years of hard work in the program.

The students will all be recognized for their hard work this school year at the annual Band Banquet, which will take place May 27. The concert went wonderfully, and the students and directors did great. Make sure you go to see the band’s many concerts next school year!
