Met Gala 2018

Kenzie Crane

The Met Gala is an event that takes place once a year in New York to showcase designer fashion in different themes. This year’s theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” It was the event’s 70th anniversary.

From amazing, “heavenly” fashion, to “prom” outfits, the Met Gala showed its fair share of good and bad fashion. Here’s my opinion of a few of my favorites, and least favorites.

Met Gala 2018 Favorites:

Rihanna: Rihanna wore Maison Margiela by John Galliano. She killed it with her pope inspired outfit! Definitely one of my favorites.

Ariana Grande: Ariana wore a Vera Wang dress inspired by the Sistine Chapel. She looked like a beautiful piece of art and came out one of the best dressed at the Met Gala this year.

Katy Perry: I’m not the biggest fan of Katy, but she was definitely over the top in the best way at the Met Gala this year. She wore a Versace dress with huge, white wings that came over her head and all the way to the floor. I wish she would have worn a headpiece, but overall she was one of the best.

Gigi Hadid: Gigi Hadid also wore a Versace dress this year to the Met Gala. She wore a dress inspired by stained glass windows, and looked beautiful.

Chadwick Boseman: Chadwick, the star of Black Panther, was my favorite of all the men who came to the Met Gala. Unlike most men, he actually found an amazing suit that went with the theme, instead of just wearing a black suit with a tie. 10/10, I love Chadwick.

These were only a few of the dresses I loved the most. I think this year’s Met Gala was my favorite of all I’ve seen.

Met Gala 2018 Least Favorites:

Kylie Jenner: Kylie wore an all-black dress made by Alexander Wang. Don’t get me wrong, she looked great. But this was one of my least favorites, because it didn’t match the theme.

Miley Cyrus: Miley Cyrus looked stunning in her dress by Stella McCartney, but once again, she did not go with the theme, and showed up to the Met Gala in a prom dress.

There were also quite a bit more of my least favorites, but as you can tell from my last reviews, they’re mostly just people who didn’t match the theme. I’m very excited to see the theme and fashion of next year’s Met Gala.
