Dancing with the Stars: Athletes

Dancing with the Stars: Athletes

Kaitlyn Craig, Columnist and Human Interest Coordinator

Throughout the month of May, Dancing with the Stars is having a special “seasonette”. This seasonette is a four week long event, instead of the normal twelve week spectacle. Also, instead of having celebrities from a lot of different platforms, all of the stars on this season are athletes. These athletes range from Olympians from the recent Winter Olympics, to professional MLB players, and even a collegiate basketball player. This is definitely an interesting idea on the producers part. A lot of people who watch the show are frustrated by the fact that it is so much shorter than normal, so we don’t get to know the celebrities as well as we normally would. But no one can deny that it makes it more interesting changing it up a little bit.

Some of the athletes competing for the mirrorball trophy this season are Tonya Harding, Adam Rippon, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Josh Norman, Jennie Finch Daigle, Mirai Nagasu, Chris Mazdzer, and a few others. One of the main things that is different with a season of all athletes, is that everyone is super competitive. Everyone is giving 150% to get to the top. This special event season also brings in a whole new audience. People who wouldn’t normally watch a ballroom dance competition show, are now watching to follow and support their favorite athletes. If you miss this awesome season, you can find all of the dances and the finale results with just a simple search on YouTube! Make sure you check out this incredible show!
