Upcoming Elections
November 3, 2022
On November 8th, 2022, the general election in Kentucky will be held. Rand Paul (R), the current senator and Charles Booker (D), his opponent, are the contenders in this campaign.
In 2011, Senator Rand Paul was first elected as a senator representing Kentucky. Rand Paul has held the position within the state. Paul has been a man of controversy with his conservative views on pro-life, immigration, and foreign policies, among other hot button issues. From his website, he makes his advocating claims, “As a fierce advocate against government overreach, Rand has fought tirelessly to return government to its limited, constitutional scope“
Charles Booker attended University of Louisville and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He started his political career by working for the legislative research commission. In 2016, he ran against Gerald Neal in the democratic primary election but only came in 3rd place. Charles is a democrat now running for senate against Rand Paul. From Booker’s political site, “Charles Booker is fighting to win a Kentucky New Deal – a bold vision to ensure life, freedom, and prosperity for all Kentuckians”
The two candidates are competing for the job after both winning the primary election for their political parties. The candidates have been disparaging each other’s names with propaganda as election day draws near. Kentuckians everywhere have expressed support for one of the politicians.
