Taylor Allison Swift is arguably the most famous female singer/songwriter. Everyone nowadays has heard about the icon. Whether you find yourself feeling revengeful and give “Reputation” a listen or are in the mood for classic country and listen to Taylor’s debut album, here is a song for everyone when it comes to Taylor Swift. The 32-year-old has been around for quite some time, and many wonder how did she pull off being so famous.

Taylor Swift grew up on a humble Christmas tree farm in a middle-class family. Her brother, mother, and father accompanied her in their home in West Reading, Pennsylvania. At a young age, Taylor had a knack for music and picked it up quite quickly. Taylor also had roots in music with her grandmother as an opera singer; in fact, she is featured in the background of her song “Marjorie.” She kicked off at the age of 10 singing to any crowd she could, whether that be to her family or local events. When Taylor was 12, she began to write songs with her guitar. Swift started to really enjoy music and started to see it more as a career than a hobby. Her parents, being the supportive ones they were, moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where Taylor started her career. When singing her original songs at Bluebird Cafe, Nashville she got recognized by an agent and signed off with Big Machine Records.

When Taylor was only 16 years old she took the world by storm with her hit single, “Tim McGraw.” The single was clearly approved by the public and was months later followed by a record entitled: “Taylor Swift” The album did well having hits like “Picture to Burn” and “Our Song” in which are gems according to now Taylor Swift fans or Swifties. The album was praised and Taylor began to grow a following. In 2008, after a Christmas album in 2007, “Fearless” was released and gained an unbelievable amount of popularity and traction. And by 2009 Taylor, at the age of 19, had America in a chokehold. However, at the rise of her fame one of the most famous interactions of pop culture occurred. At the 2009 VMAs famous rapper Kanye West took the stage while Taylor Swift was accepting her award of Best Female Music video. He said, “I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time,” Taylor was stunned and was not able to continue her speech.

Although Taylor Swift was hit with Kanye’s words at the VMAs, Swift continued to grow, going on to create records “Speak Now” and “Red” In 2014, she slyly shifted from country pop to becoming a full-on pop princess. Her album (and birthdate) “1989” included tracks like “Blank Space” and “Shake it off” Along with her dense fame, she had difficulties with haters and, unfortunately, Kanye West again. In 2016, Swift came under heat for saying that she did not give Kanye West permission to use her name in his song, “Famous” Twitter was buzzing the day Kim Kardashian leaked a video of a private phone call between Kanye and Taylor. Kim called Taylor a snake, and being the woman she is, Taylor essentially trademarked the animal. Reputation is known as one of the best comebacks of a lifetime for some fans. The album set the scene for revenge and Taylor’s symbol, snakes. The record had and still has a sense of a callous but passive tone. It was inspiring to watch Taylor shift the embarrassment she got from haters and put it back onto themselves.

In 2019, Taylor was back into the game and taking a different approach with her album “Lover” The album gives acceptance and love and puts it into music. With her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, it was hard to see how she wouldn’t be able to write a song about their seemingly perfect relationship. Also, in 2019, Swift was recovering from damage from her record label and Scooter Braun. When her music was sold off, and she would not be able to make any earnings, she announced that she would be re-recording all of her old music and include gems that were not put out in the original release.

Throughout 2020-2023 Taylor has put out 5 albums, 2 re-records, and 3 new albums, and is doing well in her career. The “Eras Tour” -which is now in action- is giving Swift a chance to tour albums that she has never performed before. Now she is so popular and will live on as one of the world’s greatest songwriters.
