The Escape Room
When creating a yearbook, teamwork is very important. Teamwork is coming together to accomplish a goal. While doing the escape room, the goal was to escape Mrs. Rathgaber. The yearbook team had to go through school and find clues to help. “It was to help on how to work better as a team to reach a goal,” says Hannah Ormes (10), she helped create the escape room.
After the escape room, the team did a review. Based on the results, the most common response was not being able to hear and not being able to participate. The escape room was a fun and fast activity to get the team together. There is always room for improvement, which was a great way for the other groups to learn from. One of the comments was that there were too many people. “ There were too many people. We should make it a challenge between the two groups,” says Mariah Osborne.
The escape room included Mrs. Rathgaber’s husband in one of the clues. He helped guide the team to their next clue. The team was taken from house 5 to house 3, to the library, gym, and then to the yearbook office. When the team opened the door of the office, Hannah was wrapped in Christmas lights and throwing candy up in the air. She was holding a picture of Mrs.Rathgaber’s face on it with her eating a candy apple. “ I thought it was very cute,” says Meah Nessler (12). Putting something at the end of an activity is a great reward for the team, so they know that it was for nothing.
