The sun was just beginning to rise as Hazel, her sister, and their family packed up the car and set off for their lake house for the summer. Both parents awaited for the girls to get back to eat dinner together. The girls and the parents all sat down and ate dinner. All of the exhaustion from being at the lake all day the parents were exhausted so they went to sleep earlier then they are used to and the girls pretended to go to sleep. Hazel and Scarlett waited thirty minutes before getting out of bed to go check to see if their parents were asleep. They tiptoed down the creaky stairs, avoiding the spots they knew would make noise. Clutching their flashlights, they slipped out the back doors and into the cool night air. The moonlight guided their steps as they made their way to the lake, hearts pounding with a mix of fear and excitement. Determined to uncover the strange creature they had seen earlier, they moved quietly, hoping to get a closer look without being noticed. As the sisters reached the edge of the lake, they scanned the water’s surface with their flashlights, searching for any sign of the mysterious creature.
