Annie Kate Crowder is a sophomore at MCHS. She is an empathetic human being who adores music, family, and God. She would never hurt a soul, though she was blessed with the gift of RBF, passed down through generations. She loves spending time with friends whether talking at the lunch table or escaping to the mall. Annie Kate’s friends describe her as kind & funny with a general care for the feelings of others.
She would be the one to race to the world’s end, not just to see what’s there, but for the thrill of the journey. On the way there, she would run her hand under every waterfall, catch every firefly, and walk along every beach, whether it’s peaceful and humbling or wild with the wind in her hair. She would make bouquets with wildflowers, and just after watching a vibrant sunset, she would stargaze for hours. And when she reached her destination, she would take in the glory of the moment, every muscle aching in the best way, and turn around just to do it all over again.
She loves to travel and see new things; any way she can learn without realizing it. She likes to take care of things on her own time without being told to do so; something that her mother dislikes a great deal. She loses focus easily, her attention constantly jumping from one excitement to the next, distracted by the smallest details, down to the sounds of a keyboard or the hum of a fan. Her daydreams carry her off to other dimensions of great joys and sorrows, whether she loses a loved one or is chowing down on some Wingstop.
Her days are filled to the brim with happiness, especially those when she can cruise down country roads with no speed limits in her dad’s Mustang, blasting Luke Combs out the windows that stayed rolled down; another chance to feel the wind in her hair and sing like no one’s listening.
She has touched many with her musicality, her voice used for entertainment and worship internationally. She has been on multiple mission trips to Brazil, sharing her testimony and serving God with the gifts he has given her, even learning to sing a little bit in Portuguese. Though in her beginning stages of learning it, she is proud enough to consider herself bilingual in some way (minus ⅞ or so). Her love for children and special needs has only grown with every additional experience, leading her to decide what she wants to do with her life: she aspires to start her own music therapy center.
Annie Kate loves to write relatable short stories and poetry incorporating creative themes and elements as a way of expressing herself. Her writing is a way to say what is unspoken, to show people things about herself that aren’t usually visible without getting to know her. She is excited to be writing for MCHS and can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.
