Charlee Evangeline Samuelson is an ambitious 15-year-old freshman at McCracken County High School. Originally from Hopkinsville, her family moved to Paducah when she was 12.
Samuelson is passionate about the subjects of geography, history, and writing. Initially, she took Intro to Journalism and Creative Writing because she wanted to learn how to be a better writer and become a true, professional, and credible journalist.
“My dream is to be able to sit inside comfortably and write about geography and history. I want to write a bunch of articles ranting about these subjects. So, I just really want to be a journalist, and I want to specialize specifically in geo and history,” Charlee stated.
After high school, she hopes to attend college at Murray State University. She desires to double major in journalism and geography/history. This bright student strongly believes that people from across the globe should have a voice in representing themselves. Equality matters very much to Samuelson, and she wants to encourage minorities to speak up for themselves and others. There is a deep desire in her to have all places, peoples, and cultures be equally represented and known across the globe.
Outside of school, Samuelson has found herself volunteering at the Salvation Army and attending the Salvation Army Church of Paducah. She shows her love for equality as she is a member of both the MCHS D&D Club and the Equality Club.
Samuelson’s main skills include empathy, memory, creative thinking, and authenticity. She is bilingual and currently thriving in Spanish III. She brightens the days, lives, and situations of all who encounter her with her compassion. Her memory is alien-level, and she always thinks outside of the box. Above all, she is authentic. She shines bright and brilliantly against your average student. She is uniquely herself, and the best part is: she owns it. She loves herself, her friends, her family, and so many others. She’s a wholesome soul with a heaping tablespoon of authenticity and humor.
Samuelson hopes to grow as a person and better herself at McCracken County High School.
“I want to be the type of person that people think of when they describe a good person. I just want to be a kind and funny person. You know? Someone you can trust in a hard time. I have so many goals for life.”
This student’s future is bright and full of success in all that she wishes to accomplish.
