Jalynn Mardis

Jalynn Mardis, Assistant Editor - The Mane Tale Yearbook

Jalynn Mardis, a 16-year-old junior, is in store for big things.

In her free time, she says, “I like to sit outside when it feels good.” She also likes to play the piano, and spend time with her friends.

She really enjoys listening to Justin Bieber’s music, and says that he is cute. “His music really helps me when I’m in a bad mood or upset.”

When asked about her position on the yearbook staff, she explained that being assistant editor is about helping the editor in chief while also helping other staff members, all while ‘training’ to be editor in chief next year. She says, “I’m excited to be able to learn how to be editor next year.”

“For this class, I hope to be able to create new bonds with people, and to become better at writing articles for this book,” Mardis says, talking about her goals for this year.

As for anyone, what you want to be when you grow up is a stressful topic for Mardis. “I actually have no idea.”

Mardis is also very involved in her church. She talks about an event called Jumpstart, which helps children in need of school clothes, backpacks, books, etc. “We also do this thing called D-Now, which is short for Desciples-Now. We stay a weekend at the church so we can become closer to God and learn more about him.”
