A new year means new games, 2017 is going to be a huge year for game releases and tons of them have been hyped up. Here are my top three favorite hyped up games for 2017.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 (PS4) – January 24

The Kingdom Heart series continues with an HD remastered collection developed by Square Enix exclusively for the PlayStation 4. Two new pieces of content are added to the series. The new episodes are claimed to be set directly after the Dream Drop Distance, when King Mickey brings up the secret behind Aqua and her time in the Realm of Darkness. This story will last around the same length of one world from the series, and the content will be focused on a world around Cinderella. The release for this game was originally scheduled for December 2016 but later got pushed back to late January. The game is currently able to be pre-ordered with an official Disney Collector’s Pin. Kingdom Hearts basically entertained me and transformed me as I grew up, every time there is a speculation of a new addition to the series, the kid side of me begins to show. I cannot wait to relive small portions of my childhood by engrossing myself in this forever growing game.

Outlast 2 (Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4, Xbox One) – Q1 2017

Finally, a sequel to the only game that has ever sent me into a full blown anxiety attack! Outlast is a FPS style game… that’s right a first-person survival game. This horror game was very successful during its first go-round in 2013, so of course what do creators do when they make a lot of money off of a product? They continue it. With Outlast 2, we are following a journalist and the hunt for his wife in the Arizona desert. During this search, you travel through a village inhabited by a cult who assumes the end of the world is near. You are not allowed to fight, unless scripted like the previous game, but mostly you run and hide to escape. As the journalist you possess a camcorder with night vision running on limited batteries. A demo was released in fall 2016 to hype up this upcoming game. This game is one of a kind and anybody who has played the predecessor is looking forward to this sequel.

South Park: The Fractured but Whole (Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4, Xbox One) – Q1 2017

The children of South Park are on a new adventure! This time a falling out is upon the heros and the group is split into two rival pods. This begins a mini civil war between the friends. You as the player are still in control of The New Kid, but this time you have the option of choosing the gender. The events in this game follow the plot of the previous game to the new series, South Park: The Stick of Truth. This game is based off of the American animated television series and is notorious for the inappropriately funny content. This is a unique game of its own, and is definitely going to be one funny and entertaining past-time for 2017.
