Upcoming Seniors: How to Choose a Good Photographer for Your Senior Pictures

Kendel Ponchock, Messenger Reporter

The time is nigh. Your junior year is coming to an end and you have to soon start thinking about your senior year and making necessary plans.  One thing every senior has to do is submit senior pictures! No, this cannot be a selfie you took on your iPhone (no matter how bomb it is). These pictures must be semi formal and taken by a real photographer with a real camera.  These precious pictures are going to be in the yearbook, online, in the newspaper, instagram, and let’s face it, framed and placed above the mantel by your grandma. The vibe of the photos are up to you though; do you want a darker theme to match your maybe shy personality Or do you want bright, sunny, and light to match your happy side. A bad photographer can completely ruin pictures, so maybe don’t trust your great aunt (who yes, maybe does own a camera and won’t charge you) to take these photos.  This doesn’t seem like a big deal, but trust me, you want these photos to be perfect. You should love them and be proud of them! So look around town and choose a photographer than you connect with.  There are plenty to choose from. Most photographers have websites their customers can go to to see the photographers work. Study the photographs; how do they make you feel? Do you want your pictures to look similar? Has the photographer done a variety of work? Ask yourself these questions. You want to be able to place yourself in the photographer’s hands and trust them to get the job done. Notable photographers in the community that do senior pictures are Brad Rankin, Matt Hernandez, and Picture This Photography.
