New Year’s Resolutions That You Can Actually Achieve

New Years Resolutions That You Can Actually Achieve

Jaden Raney, Messenger Reporter

At the beginning of each year, most people create goals for themselves that they hope to achieve triumphantly. I don’t know about you, but nearly everyone I know that has made a resolution either gives up or forgets about it. I am guilty of this, often breaking the promise of the resolution to myself within the next week of January. We as humans sometimes think bigger than what we should, and instead of taking baby steps to get things accomplished, we feel as if we have failed because we haven’t taken the leap forward. I think that this year, however, we should think reasonably and work as hard as we can to achieve smaller, more specific goals, eventually leading up to the bigger ones.

If you want to set a great goal for yourself in 2018, the first thing that you need to do is think small. What can you do to improve your attitude? If you want to have a better outlook towards the world around you, start by changing the things that don’t have to be negative into positive. Start being kind to others, and do little things to help people out. You would be surprised at how your mood can shift after you’ve made someone happy! Getting organized with your schoolwork and lifting your grades up is also a great start to a positive outlook. Work now, so you don’t have to stress later.

Health and body go hand and hand. If you have your mind set on bettering your inner self as well as outward self this year, now is the time to do it! The longer you wait to do something, the less progress you will make. Maybe try to fit exercise into your weekly schedule, and develop healthy eating habits to feel refreshed. This also helps with confidence, which everyone needs to perform to the best of your abilities.

If your resolutions are not necessarily within yourself, but with the world around you, such as traveling to new places or experiencing certain things, try taking all of the steps possible to make this happen. You obviously cannot get money or time out of nowhere, so start by saving up or writing down things that will help you remember what path you’re on and get to where you want to be.

New Year’s resolutions are not impossible. Everyone wants to better themselves and have a spectacular, memorable year. Remember, you are only one person, and there is no need to feel down when you cannot achieve a goal. All that it means is that you have to start smaller than what you did, and you keep trying until you are happy. The most that you could do this year is the best that you can be!
