“End of the F***ing World” is a show that was released on Netflix at the beginning of this year. It is about a boy named James who thinks he is a psychopath. He says he’s never had a sense of humor, has killed multiple animals, and wants to kill a “bigger target.” He is known as the “weird kid” at school, until Alyssa, the rebel of the school, opens up to him. He pretends to fall in love with her so he can plot to kill her. James has never been close with anyone, even his father. He brings Alyssa to meet his father, and his father states how, “he was afraid that James was gay.” This causes Alyssa to get the idea of running away. She tells James that she is leaving town whether he is coming or not. So, this inspires James to punch his dad in the face, take his car, and run away with Alyssa. The rest of the season consists of their adventures together trying to run from the law, run from their parents, and escape their boring lives.

My first impression of this show when I watched the trailer was not fantastic. I thought it may be a bit too “quirky” for my taste, but in all honesty, it’s come to be one of my favorite Netflix originals to date. The plot ends up being completely different than what you originally think, and it works really well. Their unconventional “Bonnie and Clyde” type of story has made “End of the F***ing World” one of the best Netflix shows. Although, I do love this show and want to give it the praise it deserves, the ending kind of infuriated me. No spoilers, but, prepare to be left hanging with how they end the first season. The way they did end the season seems to make it very difficult to add a second season, but I am excited to see how they’re going to pull it off. I would definitely recommend this show to anyone who likes action, comedy, and romance.

I give this show a 4 out of 5.
