One of my favorite things to cover here on The Mustang Messenger are awesome teachers and students of Mustang Nation. This month, I have decided to cover one of the many  great teachers of our history/electives department. This teacher is Mrs. Beth Poore. She has been one of the best teachers I have had in my entire high school experience. Before coming to MCHS, Mrs. Poore taught at Lone Oak High School. Today, she teaches Human Government and Geography, Intro to Psychology, and Sociology here at MCHS.

When asked what inspired her to teach, Mrs. Poore responded, “It is a family profession, both my parents, my grandmother, and two of my aunts.” She also added that her dad, who was a history teacher and guidance counselor at Reidland for over 30 years, has always inspired her both personally and professionally. “I always just wanted to follow in his footsteps!”

Mrs. Poore has a lot going on outside of school as well. She and her husband, who also works here at McCracken, have an eight year old daughter named Alex, who is now attending Concord Elementary School. In her spare time, Mrs. Poore enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and watching sports. On any normal Saturday in the spring, you can find her at the tennis court.

“I love sports! Football is my favorite since I grew up as a coach’s daughter but I will watch just about any sport!” Mrs. Poore added. So when asked what she would be doing if she wasn’t a teacher, she answered, “I think I would be doing something in the world of sports, working for a football team (college or NFL) would be my dream job!”

Mrs. Poore is definitely one of the gems of McCracken. She is always there for students when they need to talk about anything. Whether it be ranting about school, reality television, or something major. So let’s join together and thank her for everything she has done for us here at McCracken!
