I have been writing book reviews for The Mustang Messenger since the very first edition three years ago. In fact, the first article I ever wrote was a book review. So I thought, for my very last “One for the Books”, I would take a look back and talk a little about my some of my favorites and just some that have stuck in my memory.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

This particular book and review stays in my mind very vividly for many reasons. For one, it was my first review ever for The Mustang Messenger. On the other hand, it was honestly one of the worst books I have ever read. In a nutshell, I didn’t like the book for many reasons, some of the main ones being that every other word was a cuss word almost, and for no real reason. The other reason being that in the middle of the book, the author literally writes, “I don’t know why you are still reading this.”

I Hunt Killers

I read this book only because it had been recommended to me by so many people. I am so happy I read it, because it is now one of the best book series’ I’ve ever read. I flew through the books because of the author’s ability to grab your attention and never let go. This is also the first book review I wrote under the title “One for the Books” in the September edition of last school year.

Bridge to Terabithia

This book has been one of my favorites since I was very young. It is one of those books I come back to a lot and reread, yet I never get bored. The older I get, everytime I reread it, I find a new aspect in it that means something special to me and affects me in a whole new way. This is definitely a book I will show to my kids one day.

This is Where it Ends

This book definitely had an impact on me. This book was very chilling, and it taught me a lot about how to treat others and how to let your family and friends know how much you love them, because you never know when it is going to be too late.

Wonder

This book teaches such an incredible message. Though it is marketed as a children’s book, I think that everyone, of all ages should read this book. It teaches to never judge someone by their appearance, and to always give people a chance, because you never know how awesome they actually are! This book definitely taught me a lot about how to view the people around me, and the world as a whole.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

So it’s pretty much a given that since I love to read, I am a huge Harry Potter nerd. These books inspire me so much and even though I have read them multiple times, I always find a new aspect that makes me cry, smile, or feel like I have slipped into the magical world of Hogwarts. It is very easy to say that these books are some of my favorites of all time.
