The Junior Homecoming Court Nominee, Nora Brown

Trinity Johnson, Staff Writer - The Mustang Messenger

Nora Brown is a junior homecoming court nominee here at McCracken County High School. Her views of homecoming are very positive. Brown thinks homecoming is an incredible opportunity for everyone to come together and sort of…party!

Nora’s reaction to being a nominee on the homecoming court is one I think we would all have. She was excited but didn’t plan on it. She slowly realized that this might be a big deal. In Brown´s case, she didn’t campaign, her friends nominated her. It started as a joke and then became something very real to her. Though Brown waited to tell her parents, they reacted in a heartwarming way. Brown states, ¨My dad was really excited because he likes whenever people talk good about me, and so he was really excited just to know that I’ve been recognized.¨

Brown says she doesn’t want to have ¨a big head,¨ but she thinks she was nominated due to her relationships with others. She is a very trustworthy person with a lot of friends. Everyone seemed to think she would be an incredible representative for the junior class. Brown has a high status here at McCracken. She’s involved in many musical classes such as concert band, varsity choir, and jazz band. Brown has attended McCracken homecoming but never as a homecoming court nominee. She finds dances appealing because of their social aspect. Everyone shows out and you get to see all of your friends in the same place. For homecoming court, she is excited to get ready but afraid she will freak out. However, based on what other people have said about her, she’ll do great.
