Ending Daylights Savings for the Better

The U.S senate has passed legislation that would make daylight saving time permanent in 2023. Meaning we will move the clocks forward in march and keep them there. The reason for this decision is all the negative health effects changing time causes. Changing the time could cause people to not get enough sleep and sleep deprivation has led to an increase in auto accidents.

In an article by Ayana Archiea she states, “A permanent move to daylight saving time would reduce the crashes by about 1.7%, according to.” Since we have less daylight, we have less exposure to the sun, and less vitamin D, which can affect bones and fatigue. “Seasonal affective disorder or depression occurs when we have less sunlight,” said Dr. Foxx. There is clear evidence that permanent daylights saving time would save lives as well as energy and even prevent crime. I asked my father how he feels about daylight savings ending. He responded with, “yes I am happy to not have to worry about my sleep schedule being changed, to me there is no reason behind it.”
