In Paducah, Kentucky this week the city commission has decided to tear down the Katterjohn building. The Katterjohn building Which was built by the Illinois Central railroad in the late 1800s. It was built as a hospital for the railroad. There were three hospitals. The building burnt down in 1917 but was reopened in 1919. It continued to run until the 1950s. The city commission has ruled that the Katterjohn building is too old and unstable and that it must be demolished. The cost of the demolition in total is going to be 80,000 dollars. The city commission will also be removing hazardous waste.
