The Eras Tour Movie: A Film For the Ages

Being described by one fan as “…nothing short of a spectacular journey through the diverse musical chapters of one of the world’s most celebrated pop idols,” Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” movie has a groundbreaking 100% on “Rotten Tomatoes,” along with a 4.7 out of 5 stars and 8.6/10 rating on IMDb.

The movie falls just short of the Joker in 2019 for a new opening record in October, but nonetheless, has become one of the highest grossing concert films in history.

Combined with a closeness of singer and audience, a mind-blowing stage show, and plenty of spectacular pyrotechnics and others, the “Eras Tour” film has definitely delivered what it should have, even after removing a few fan favorites. Many self-proclaimed “Swifties” were standing up, singing and dancing together as if they were really there. It was a very unifying experience for many.

The coloring of the filmed concert was also incredibly remarkable, with many cinemas having audio, visuals and colors that give the full immersive experience minus the cramped seating and hot weather of the outside in a real concert.

The global accessibility is also admirable, since many far-reaching fans cannot see the real concert. Ticket prices are also surprisingly cheap, faring from $10-20 a piece. One fan considered the movie a “heartfelt gift.”

Some more ambitious journalists compare the film to other musical masterpieces like Prince’s Purple Rain and Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker, mostly because of the popularity points it’s gotten, but also because of the actual performance Swift gives. Vulture.com adds onto this, saying, “As Swift thunders through over two and a half hours of hits and deep cuts, every sound pops and every sequin sparkles.”

All in all, the film is a wonderful combination of Swift’s well-known musical abilities and unity between fans near and far, whether you’re a casual or die-hard Swiftie.
