Cubs Win World Series

Parker Lyon, Messenger Reporter

Today the Cubs are the world champions of baseball, the first time they’ve been champs since 1908. Not only was it a memorable World Series victory because of the droughts both of these teams have had, but also because of the 3-1 lead that the Indians blew. Earlier this summer, Cleveland ended their professional sport team drought by defeating the Warriors and coming back from a 3-1. The joke then was Oakland blowing a 3-1 lead, but now the joke is on Cleveland.

To give you an idea of how long ago it was since the Cubs won their last World Series, here are some things that happened that year: the airplane and the Model-T Ford were invented and William Taft was elected. Since 1908 there have been 16 presidents elected; The NBA, NFL, and the NHL were all formed; and Chicago won championships with their teams in each of those, except the Cubs, obviously.
