The freshman experience this year is significantly different from previous years due to the introduction of the AB block schedule and the increased Mustang Pride already evident within the first month of school.
“I think it helps me to get my work done more efficiently and on time.” Emma Kissiar (9) remarks, regarding the block schedule.
This has become a consensus throughout MCHS, with a majority of students holding the schedule change in high regard. With only four classes each day, classes are much longer, and students have more time to complete their assignments. Students also enjoy having alternating classes based on the day (A or B) to create a system of balance for their work.
Another positive change reflected within the last month is the increased morale and pride staff and students have for MCHS. This was put on full display at the pep rally held on August 22nd before the McCracken v. Tilghman Kickoff game. Kissiar, a member of the band that performed during the pep rally, stated, “I find it really cool and encouraging to see how everyone gets together to support our school.”
With the first month in the books and a great year to come, MCHS is destined to build a stronger community through clubs, events, sports, and more.
