There are 9 Star Wars movies in total, each being separated into a category: the ‘prequels’ are movies 1, 2, and 3, the ‘originals’ are 4, 5, and 6, and the ‘sequels’ are 7, 8, and 9. The ‘originals’ were actually filmed and released first in 1977-1983 then the prequels next in 2002-2005; so, the movies were really released: 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9. So, if you watch the movies in release order, in the ‘originals’ you’ll see the infamous Darth Vader and his evil side, how he fights to destroy the galaxy and disrupt the peace- but when you watch the ‘prequels’, you see him grow up from 9 years old-you see all the things he struggled with and went through and it gives you an unbelievable change of mind.
Star Wars is the perfect mix of romance, action, deep sadness, and joy; with 9 movies each over 2 hours, and multiple shows following the stories, it is really impossible to get bored. Watching Anakin grow up, fall in love, have kids, and turn to the dark side, your emotions are all over the place throughout this saga- but I couldn’t think of anything better to watch. Past all the drama of the movies, Star Wars is very beautiful. The setting is based on space, and the characters race around the atmosphere, landing on many unfamiliar planets. Planet ‘Naboo’ which was filmed at Lake Como in Rome, Italy; is one of the most scenic places in the saga. You see a lava and molten-filled planet called ‘Mustafar’, a sandy but beautiful planet named ‘Tattooine’, and a modern city planet named ‘Coruscant’ along with hundreds of other planets. You watch the Jedis pledge their lives to the light side, fight for what’s right, and sacrifice themselves for friends, Star Wars is so fascinating.
Actor Hayden Christensen, playing Anakin got much hate from his role in his younger years but I don’t believe there could’ve been anyone else better for this role. Christensen did an amazing job of showing Anakin’s anger, sadness, revenge, and longing to protect his family, while also being an incredibly powerful Jedi for his age. Anakin is filled with so many emotions yet a tough outer layer, but Christensen showed all of that admirably. All of the music and actor/actress picks contributed to this film-wide success and years of popularity, yet I still feel it’s overlooked. Star Wars isn’t just about action, watch the films and see all your emotions come into play.
I can’t put it into any better words than to watch it because you won’t regret it. Pay attention to the plot, the characters and their backstory, and the love that goes around.
