Running on an open trail with mud, dirt, grass, and rocks, the runners are able to handle any situation they are put in. Being able to control your breathing and pace is one of the most important things that the runners have to do. Slamming a meet, and scoring a 15, is what is on every runner’s mind.
Abby Orange(11), who has run for the past 2 years, says having endurance is one of the best things a runner can have. “ Stay committed and build your endurance because that’s the only way you will get better,” says Orange.
Anyone can be a cross-country runner. Brennen Hartman(9) says that as long as you train and stay committed you will succeed. “ There are no definite qualifications to be successful, but having a strong work ethic, good mentality, and staying consistent with your training is good to have,” says Hartman.
Cross country is a great way to meet amazing people and create lifelong memories with friends. Bus rides to meets are where the best memories are made. “ Bus rides are great bonding experiences,” says Hartman. It is an encouraging sport that you can work on at your own pace and make amazing friends.
