It was a fantastic Friday night at the homecoming game, filled with electrifying energy and anticipation, the McCracken County Coed cheer team started with small chants to rally the football players. This night was more than chants though, the coed cheer team wowed the crowd with the small, but crazy/dangerous stunts they performed. But it didn’t end there, the Coed cheerleaders from last year came to receive their national winning rings, from last year’s unforgettable triumph.
The McCracken County Coed cheer team did an outstanding job at the homecoming game last Friday night. The McCracken County Coed cheer team showed off tiny glimpses of their new routine for this year. But amidst the intense focus and determination, there was an undeniable sense of joy and pride.
Madelyn Edwards, a Junior on the cheer team, who plays the role of a base said “Seeing how we have already performed a bit of our routine to people, it just gets me excited for competing this year, and it makes me excited to hopefully win nationals again”
When asked how it felt to her that her team had already performed a piece of this year’s routine to people. Assistant Coach Sarah Campbell answered the same question.
She said, “To be able to perform certain parts of our routine this year already is an achievement. It is all part of the process and to see the routine coming together gets me so excited for what’s to come, we still have a lot of work to put in, but these kids are ready to push forward and put the routine all together” she said.
Sarah said It is always good to perform in front of a crowd. To see us cheer on the sidelines and support McCracken is so much fun. They did a great job and had so much fun doing it. It’s nice to get out of a gym and have a little fun” when asked her her opinions on how the team performed Friday night.
The McCracken County coed cheer team from 2022-2023 received their national rings for winning First place at nationals last February, at the homecoming game Friday night, this was such an amazing accomplishment for them.
When Sarah Campbell was asked what the rings meant to her, this is what she said, “Winning state and national championship rings means a lot. It is a consistent reminder of the hard work, time, energy, and dedication that all coaches and team members put into the year to achieve the goals that we had set for ourselves.”
Madelyn Edwards answered this question, What do the championship rings mean to you, “The rings to me represent more than a huge ring on my finger, they represent what we fought for, it represents what we went through, and the rings remind me of the great team I had when we competed and won”. She said.
As you can see the Homecoming game Friday night was such a blast for these cheerleaders, and even the coaches, you can tell how dedicated the coed cheerleaders are, and how exciting cheering is for them. The rings really inspire people, and people are so excited when they win one, and underclassman who have not even experienced the joy of winning yet are inspired by the ring as well, and are prepared to fight to win, and fight for the rest of the members on the team.
