Delaney would likely first identify herself as an artist. It makes up a huge portion of her identity. As a feeler; she learned through difficult experiences to understand that part of herself and embody everything she felt in its entirety. She refers to her ability to feel everything so deeply as a gift. This is what fuels her artwork and writing most.
Connection and vulnerability are two of her greatest focuses in life. She has an admiration for everyone around her and feels that everybody has something deeper to them. She is obsessed with learning everything about everyone she possibly can. Unlike most teenagers Delaney loves school, and connecting with other people is one of her favorite things about it. She has found great friends in jocks, art kids, “quiet kids”, farmers, and teachers. She expresses how all humans have a unique light to them, and feels everyone in her path deserves to be shown unconditional kindness.
One of Delaneys greatest obscure inspirations are cowboys. Though she often jokes about it, the concept has had a big impact on her personal journey. She resonates with free-living, and connecting with her “inner-cowboy” allows her to embrace all parts of herself. She is fond of “embracing paradox.” Being raised in the south is a part of her identity she never rejects. She is adamant that hippies and cowboys go hand in hand, furthering her mindset that all people have more in common than we realize.
One of her proudest accomplishments is being accepted into the Governor’s School for the Arts in 2024 for visual arts. This was her most pivotal life experience. There she got to immerse in a bubble of artists and the like-minded minority. She made some of the most life-impacting connections with others. There she learned a lot about herself as a person, not just an artist. She also learned that artist’s minds, regardless of their niche, often work differently than others. Their perception of the world is unique and shapes everything they do. Delaney is, to her core, an artist. Through GSA she found in herself a new sense of determination and security.
Delaney is also a member of the Journalism Honor Society and serves as the Public Relations Chair for McCracken’s Chapter of the National Art Honor Society. Her love for both visual arts and writing landed her a love for journalism. She has a knack for all things art, nature, poetry, and music, and tends to enjoy writing about things involving those passions and searching for deeper meanings.
In both her journalistic writing and her personal life, she believes all perspectives hold some amount of truth. She believes there is something to learn from everyone. In all, her greatest hope is that there will be something for everyone to learn from her, too.
